Max+, part of the Coca-Cola family, sponsored the Mandalay Universities E-sports Tournament 2019, hosted by Speed Gaming on July 6 at the Mingalar Mandalay Shopping Center with a prize pool of 4 million Kyats up for grabs. Over the course of the tournament, participating teams representing 17 universities from around the Mandalay region competed in exciting matches of Dota 2, a popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game among Myanmar youth.
Hundreds of local gaming enthusiasts turned up to cheer on the teams at the event, with fun activities including dance performances, quizzes and a special friendly match between Team Fairies, a competitive all-female Dota 2 team from Yangon, and selected audience members livening up the proceedings. As the dust settled on the virtual battlefields, it was Yadanabon University that emerged victorious, with its team winning the coveted tournament trophy, along with the top prize of 2 million Kyats . Coming in a close second place was the team from the Mandalay Government Technical Institute which received 800,000 Kyats for their admirable performance. By sponsoring Mandalay Universities E-sports Tournament 2019 with 17 player teams from universities around Mandalay region, Max+ intends to provide a nurturing environment for aspiring Myanmar E-sports players and encouraging positive friendly competition amongst youth communities, including universities.
