Mytel Aims to Digitalize Myanmar’s Education Infrastructure through Internet School

Mytel, Myanmar’s fourth network operator, announces the Internet School Project which will facilitate t h e c o u n t r y ’ s e d u c a t i o n a l empowerment with its advanced technology and nationwide 4G internet access. Internet School project is the first initiative among upcoming CSR plans.

Mytel has currently provided free Internet access to 13 schools in Kayin, Naypyidaw, Bago, Rakhine, Shan, Tanintharyi and Ayeyarwaddy. Mytel plans to install internet service to 50 schools by end of 2018. It has also started in building an IT room by providing computers and other hardware that will help in a better educational experience. With the approval of Ministry of Education, more than 1,000 schools across Myanmar will have free fiber broadband service and speed limit starting from 2Mbps for unlimited data. “Mytel believes that the best way to empower a nation is by investing early on its future. That’s why Mytel’s CSR is focused on providing Myanmar students access to better educational facilities through its Internet School Project,” said Zaw Min Oo, Chief External Relations Officer at Mytel.

Mytel plans to contribute US$ 80 million for 15 years for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, 80 percent of which is allocated for the educational empowerment. Mytel’s Internet School Project aims to serve not only as the platform to give students access to a vast array of online contents at high speed internet coverage but also as the valuable source of knowledge and resources to the teachers.
