President on an Official Visit to Thailand

Myanmar President Win Myint visited to Thailand at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Win Myint attended the 8th Ayeyawady-Chao Phyra Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit and the 9th Cambodia-Laos-MyanmarVietnam (CLMV) Summit which was held in Bangkok.

According to the statistics, Thailand’s investment to Myanmar amounted to $ 11.04 billion in March 2018, 14.53 percent of total foreign investments. Thailand stands the third in Myanmar’s foreign investors after China and Singapore.

Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Thailand amounted to $ 2.45 billion in the first half of the fiscal year 2017-2018. Myanmar’s export to Thailand is $ 1.4 billion while import is $ 1.05 billion. Myanmar also conducts trade with Thailand through borders such as Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Hteekhee, Mawtaung and Maesai.
