Viber in Partnership with Telenor and Red Dot

Viber, messaging app, has launched its latest campaign “We Love Myanmar” to celebrate 18 million unique users in Myanmar on December 14, 2015. It is an astounding growth because of starting from its 5 million unique users in July 2014. Viber’s massive domestic growth shows how the country has embraced the communication service known for its free chat and calls.

Viber has also partnered with the country’s industry leaders Telenor and Red Dot to launch “We Love Myanmar,” which aims to make Viber more accessible to the rapidly growing smartphone users in the country. The campaign marks significant milestones for Viber and its partners.

On the occasion of the upcoming Independence Day of Myanmar on January 4, Viber, together with Telenor, brings cost-free Viber chat access and new free sticker pack—“We Love Myanmar”. Telenor will offer two weeks of cost-free access to messaging on the Viber app starting on January 4, 2016 with no registration required. Telenor subscribers can also download the new sticker pack without data charges during the period. The “We Love Myanmar” sticker pack features favorite local expressions about good vibes and national pride like “Proud to be Myanmar”, “We win”, “It’s cool”, “Love you” and “Share the love”. Telenor operates the largest 3G network in Myanmar today, spanning close to 4,000 sites across the country and serves more than 12 million customers, 57% of whom are active Internet users.

Starting from the first week of February, Viber and Red Dot will make it easier to use “Viber Out” and call anyone anywhere in the world without the need for a credit card. Viber Out users can access over 9,000 Red Dot merchants nationwide and top up their Viber Out credits. Viber Out allows users to make Viber calls to non-Viber users (any landline and mobile number) in Myanmar and especially abroad.

“We are delighted that Myanmar users have embraced Viber and we would like to thank you for making Viber number one in Myanmar. We are glad to be part of your daily life and we celebrate our success by celebrating you,” said Michael Shmilov, Viber’s Chief Operating Officer.
